Day 330 - Acts 27 - Romans 7

ONE-YEAR JOURNEY OF THE BIBLE
Day 330 - Acts 27 - Romans 7 (Is There a Good Person in God's Eyes?)

        As it is written:
        "There is none righteous, no, not one;
        There is none who understands;
        There is none who seeks after God.
        They have all turned aside;
        They have together become unprofitable;
        There is none who does good, no, not one."
        (Romans 3:10-12)

Our text above plainly answers the question/title of today's devotional.  Clearly, the Bible states that "there is none who does good, no, not one."  As if that isn't bad enough, the apostle Paul goes on to say in the same chapter, "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (verse 23)."  Then three chapters later, Paul adds that "the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23)."  Death here refers to both physical as well as spiritual death.

Sadly, I have witnessed to too many people who refused to believe in the gospel of salvation by faith alone apart from good works.  Even a child can understand that he or she is a sinner and that God will punish sin (the wages of sin is death).  Because of God's love for us, He did the only thing that can save us from the punishment of sin - He became a man in the person of Jesus Christ and took upon Himself the punishment that was due us.

In our next devotion, we will see how those who have placed their faith and trust in Christ alone will not incur the condemnation of God for sin.  If you are reading this and agree with God that you are not good in His eyes, I urge you to humble yourself and confess that you are a sinner and that there is nothing you can do to save yourself and cry out to God to save you through faith in His Son Jesus Christ.
