Day 186 - Psalm 113-118

ONE-YEAR JOURNEY OF THE BIBLE
Day 186 - Psalm 113-118 (How You Can Be Invincible)
(To View Past Posts Click: http:/tonyvicreyes1-yearbible.blogspot.com/ )

       "The LORD is on my side;
        I will not fear.
        What can man do to me?...
        It is better to trust in the LORD
        Than to put confidence in man.
        It is better to trust in the LORD
        Than to put confidence in princes."
        (Psalm 118:6-9)

What if your dad was someone who had great power and influence so that no one knew about him would even dare to think of harting you in any way, shape or form, wouldn't you be much more fearless and confident?  Of course you would.  In our text above, the Holy Spirit is saying that those whom the Lord is on their side do not have to fear anything for not even the fiercest terrorist in the world can touch him with out God's permission.

We are living in a day and age when more and more enemies of Christ would want nothing better than to step all over us and even kill us.  Our natural tendency is to be afraid whenever we hear about ISIS trying to inflitrate our neighborhoods or the LGBT groups pushing hard on Christians to give in to their agenda or jeopardize their businesses or jobs.  But if we have the Lord on our side, how foolish we would be to be afraid.

The Psalmist in our text above asks the rhetorical question, "Since the Lord is on my side...what can man do to me?"  The answer of course is nothing; man can do nothing to us if the Lord is on our side. Obviously, there are many things that man can do to us including taking our life but what God is trying to say is that even death in the hands of our enemies only ushers us as believers in Christ into His eternal presence as the Psalmist in the previous two chapters exclaims:

        "Precious in the sight of the LORD
        Is the death of His saints."
        (Psalm 116:15)

If you are a Christian, you truly are incincible in the truest sense of the word because nothing in this universe could ever defeat you because the Lord God of the universe is on your side.
