Day 151 - Job 3-9

ONE-YEAR JOURNEY OF THE BIBLE
Day 151 - Job 3-9 (Do Not Contend With Your Maker)
(To View Past Posts Click: http:/tonyvicreyes1-yearbible.blogspot.com/ )

"But how can a man be righteous before God?
        If one wished to contend with Him,
        He could not answer Him one time out of a thousand.
        God is wise in heart and mighty in strength.
        Who has hardened himself against Him and prospered? ...
        He shakes the earth out of its place,
        And its pillars tremble;
        He commands the sun, and it does not rise;
        He seals off the stars;
        He alone spreads out the heavens,
        And treads on the waves of the sea; ...
        He does great things past finding out,
        Yes, wonders without number. ...
        If He takes away, who can hinder Him?
        Who can say to Him, "What are You doing?'"
         (Job 9:3-12)

Job was the most righteous man who lived during his time.  God had also given him enough wisdom and understanding to know deep truths about God as we read from our text above.  He understood that no one can be righteous before God.

Job proclaims to his friends the futilty of contending or arguing with God even though that was exactly what he did out of deep agony and confusion because of his severe sufferings.  At the end of the book bearing his name, Job reaps God's rebuke for contending with his Maker; something he knew he shouldn't have done.

Although I don't think that anyone today can come close to becoming as righteous as Job, I believe that we can be better than him in the area of his failure if we heed the lesson from his life.  When life hits us with the unexpected and knocks us down like what happened to Job, we can take to heart Job's words above, "If He takes away, who can hinder Him?  Who can say to Him, "What are You doing?'" and not question God's fairness.

Nick Vujicic was born without all four limbs but he testifies that he would not have his life any other way. He is a child of God who understands that God's ways are perfect and Nick has learned to accept God's will for his life and has turned his disability into a great blessing for thousands of people.  You can watch Nick's testimony on the attached video.

Are you striving with God today because of a trial or suffering you are going through?  I hope you do not make the mistake of Job but rather follow the example of Nick Vujicic and turn your trial into blessing. With God's help, all thing are possible.
